I had my liver transplant on October 1st and since then my LFTs have come back good. But yesterday my blood work came back with elevated LFT’s and an elevated GGT. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? It’s weird after all these blood test that this has occurred. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

KevR, Yes what are ur numbers showing. that happened to me after 2.5 yrs. I was in rejection with my LTP they pumped me up w/steroids , spent 3days in hospital discharged with increase in immunosuppressants 3.7 yrs. . my numbers are perfect. They may recommend a liver biopsy depending on ur numbers, start steroids and recheck ur blood..

Your TP will get u back on track. I know you are scared, very understandable.

Thanks for replying @Melsamm. The AST, ALT n Alkaline Phosphates are all outside normal. As well as my GMT. Definitely nervous.

KevR, I can so understand your being nervous it’s a lot you get this new liver and then things pop up. Do they think it could be something with the bile ducts, they can cause problems “they can place a stent” how ru feeling, have they added a steroid , done a ultrasound that’s what they did when my numbers went abnormal.

What is your TP team telling you? I will be thinking about you I know it’s difficult but we r here for you..πŸ’š

I found out last night by going online and seeing the blood results. My guess is they will be contacting me today. Crazy enough I do have an appointment with my Liver specialist today. I will keep you posted @Melsamm.

@KevR I’ve had this periodically too. It’s always corrected itself, and we’ve figured now it’s just something my body does. I do have bile duct stents, as well as other conditions that affect my bile ducts so they’re assuming this is why, and then random things like weird foods or stress cause little hiccups. In my situation they’ll usually monitor me a bit closer for a while, and then if it persists do scans or potentially a biopsy.

i know the sentiment of try not to freak out probably isn’t helpful, but do know if something is out of the ordinary it’s good news they’re catching it early, and it sounds like your team is on it. Keep us posted!

KevR, did he give you any insight as to what he thought was going on.

No, he really wasn’t too specific. It said this happens sometimes. He said he was not worried but wanted to get bloodwork done today. Which I did do over an hr ago. I have had pancreatitis since at least the week after the surgery. I’ve done many scans, ultrasounds n an MRI but the inflammation in the pancreatitis continues. They’ve been surprised Al this x that I am not in severe pain but I am not. Like anyone else I don’t like some of the discomfort but it’s tolerable for now. There is a procedure where they can do an endoscopy n then use an ultrasound machine n eliminate the inflammation by taking it out through the stomach. But we’re still on hold with that. As you all know, it’s a tough road with transplants. A lot of unknowns. Will get back to you with results. And since I went to a Penn facility, I should have them later today.

KevR Ok my friend I have definitely had you in my thoughts. It’s just a lot like you said I myself am dealing with health issues after LTP , so I can totally relate with you.πŸ˜ŠπŸ’š

My bloodwork came back basically the same. But my Transplant Team did not reach out to me so at least they’re “not” that concerned. Thank you all for listening to me. I will reach out when I hear or learn of any more info.
