Yes! I love these support groups, and look forward to them every time. Our community is so supportive and encouraging. We have our meetings on the second Tuesday and last Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm eastern. Come as you are, meet some cool people, chime in to the conversation or just listen and learn from fellow transplant recipients. I'm always available to chat and answer any questions too, or make some introductions if you want to know some of the faces in the group before the call.
Support groups are so awesome. The friendships that form from them are uplifting. Even just seeing those friendly faces helps me to remember I'm not alone in this journey. Transplant is invisible to an outsider and sometimes they just don't get it. This community does get it. The words, I see you, I hear you, we support you go a long way after a rough day or week.
I just wanted to add that our support groups mean everything to me. Even if I just listen, not like the topic, not agree with how the meeting is run, I LOVE them. I never miss them. I have an amazing circle of support but none of them have gone through transplant. Just being in the presence of a transplant patent, any organ, gives me hope!
As someone who is waiting for my 2nd transplant having these support groupus helps me remember that im not alone in this journey and i find that everyone is friendly and its a very relaxing atmosphere.
