sleep habits
This discussion was started under another post but I wanted to make sure it doesn't get lost so I'm moving it here.
@Deb and @TServold were talking about sleep, and it's something that's been on my mind a lot too lately. I feel like I've tried all the good sleep habits and I'm still struggling to wake up and feel fully rested. I've never been a solid sleeper, probably due to my pre-transplant life consisting of me waking up every 3 hours to take meds which kind of prevents one from accessing deep sleep, and now that I'm post transplant and could actually sleep I'm struggling to actually get rest.
What do you do for a good night sleep? Prescribed or otherwise, I want all the tips. I've done the limiting blue light, the tea before bed, trying down regulating activities, melatonin, sleep meds, nothing seems to help.

im so glad this is being brought up. I am struggling with sleep as a dialyis patient. i have sleep apnea and i have insomnia. i used a a BiPap machine but it gives me severe dry mouth and then im afraid to drink lots of water because i dont want to get fluid overloaded. any tricks or tips for the dry mouth?
My son sent this in reply to your question. He was on dialysis for two and a half years and 8 months post transplant.
I take anxiety meds not sleep meds... Sleep. I've figured out how to function with "little" sleep. I get about 5 hours a night. That seems to suffice. I diffuse lavender and eucalyptus in my room, and take a shower before bed. I live in a very dry climate and I put Aquaphor on my lips before bed every night to help keep my mouth and skin hydrated. Sometimes I mix a little lavender oil into it because then I don't somehow lick it off as much. I know that seems weird.
