Would love to see those of you who might have time but more importantly - is there anything you would like me to ask the thought-leaders who are here presenting and networking here??

@Karin for those of us who don't know, can you explain what goes on at these clinical meetings? I'm just imagining a lot of doctors in suits talking about science.

    Hi,

These meetings are about connecting with your colleagues and your peers as much as about learning and sharing of your knowledge and your discoveries. All kinds of providers attend and patients alike. Presentations are given in the different tracks as well as poster presentations and workshops. But much of the magic is in the meetings that happen spontaneously or even planned with those you want to collaborate with. This is less about ”school” and more about ”camp”! I connected with members around advocacy in Washington, new drugs, and approaches to care for patients in a more comprehensive manner. As a patient and a medical scientist I thrive in these settings where I get to use my personal and professional /academic experiences for the benefit of others. I will share some ideas in a separate post!

@Karin, I'm curious what though leaders see as the biggest positive shift in the larger renal space since last year's Spring Clinical meeting.

    Hi,

I think one of the biggest areas of emphasis now in upstream CKD is earlier diagnosis and treatment, in late stage, it is patient choice of modality of renal replacement therapy and access to transplant for all. In transplant there is still so much to do between the organ allocation process and the need for better drugs and of course more donors/organs…

if I had to pick one area that many gravitated toward in corridors and on the floor, it was the uncertainty in how the government will be involved in funding and regulation going fwd..
