Hi,

I'm interested in what decongestants you use when you have a cold/ chest congestion.

I've been told Kidney Transplant recipients should not take meds with DM (Dextromethorphan/guaifenesin. It seems most cold medicines include DM?The congestion is in my upper chest. Need to find a way to get it to break up.

BTW, I've taken regular Mucinex with no luck other than nausea.

I appreciate your feedback.

Thank you, Tina.

Hi! I haven't been able to use any decogestant spray but I did ask the doctor again last year and she reccomended a saline based nasal rinse. It doesn't neccesairly decongest but it does help flush out some of the stuff from your sinuses, which can provide some relief. As always, I would check with your doctor/team for what they would recommend.

It's so hard being limited on what we can take to help with getting over things like colds and different illnesses. I hope you can find something that helps and feel better soon!
