I am going back to work! A couple days a week and a few hours. It's amazing! I am back in the medical field. Do you all have any ideas to make my mornings easier? Tips?
Congrats, I went back to work part time about 1.5 yrs post. I was terrified. Now, a year later I am looking for full time work. I built up my stamina slowly and learned how to reintegrate into the workforce. I had been out of work for almost 3 years prior to transplant.
a few things that helped me were:
picking out my outfit the night before. If you wear scrubs or a uniform, make sure they are clean and ready to put on.
I prepared my lunch/snacks/water bottles the night before so I was not in a hurry before work.
I gave myself extra time to transition. I found transitioning from the house/going to doc appointments more difficult than I anticipated.
be gentle with yourself. Your mental energy could be taxed if you have not had to use your brain a lot. I found myself being mentally tired after work, even a 4 hour shift. I had to give myself a lot of grace to let my brain and body recalibrate.
let us know how you do! Proud of you for trying to get “back” out there.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone! And the well wishes. I am finding that I am a little tired after, but it's not bad. I'm making oats at night for breakfast. I am giving myself a pat on the back for doing this. It is nice to feel needed and wanted again. Not a bump on a log. Lol
