Paracentesis before LTP surgery

I'm curious, has anyone had fluid removed on the day of the surgery? I have another 15 days before my insurance activates again, and another 18 days until op. Usually, my doctor orders an ultrasound before doing a paracentesis, but they are holding off on anything that is not absolutely necessary before surgery due to the risk of infection and the low neutrophil count (I'm supposed to get meds for that in May).
I don't know what's worse, waiting for the phone call that they found a liver for you, or knowing there is one and waiting for the scheduled date? It is driving me nuts.
Hope everyone can enjoy the beautiful day,
Andreas

Hey Andreas, they put me on Lasix to get the fluid off 7 days prior and up to transplant day.
As far as the uncertainty of things, I always think of Monty Pythons. Always look on the Bright Side of Life
Hello Shaw, I’ve been on lasix for three years now, when I suggested to my doctor I can simply add another pill or two she said no way. She is very good and doesn’t take risks. If I asked her now I already know her response. I just have to take it easy I guess and wait until I see he on the 5th. I was curious if anyone had fluid removed before they start cutting. The ascites has go somewhere, right. Love Monthy Python, my kind of humor.
What a roller coaster of emotions to be going through! I can't stand it when insurance is the barrier for getting the treatment you need. I'm sorry for all the stress and wasted time you dealt with dealing with the insurance issue. Thinking of you and wishing you all the best!
