Summer heat and Dehydration

Sadly I experienced this on July 4th in Houston.

I really wanted to have a good time with my husband and our VIP access but was apprehensive about the predicted feels-like temperatures in Houston. I went and in hindsight wish I hadn't. I drank a lot of water but between the humidity and the heat it didn't matter. My body just couldn't keep enough sodium in my body since I was certainly sweating. So I paid the price. And ended up in the ER the next day. And I didn't really get to enjoy the concerts or the fireworks because it was so hot!

Thankfully my kidneys were not affected. But I wish I had listened to myself and not gone.

I wanted to share this here and say that even if you are a transplant recipient with no restrictions we all need to be careful in this heat.

So sorry to hear this happened to you 😓 Maybe liquid IV in the mix might help next time? Or something else to replace the sodium. Sometimes its out of our control entirely.
