Life Plans / Goals for 2027

we had a discussion recently in my “Group” that I feel is appropriate and a great topic for any transplant patient.

Life Plans and Goals for the upcoming year, give ourselves that push of motivation and satisfaction with embracing life.

we obviously have our Needs, then comes Wants but what about that middle ground? Where we can reach out and our fingertips touch the Goal

these cover every category of our lives

I don’t expect anyone to Share theirs but it’s serious food for thought about yourself going forward into 2027 and beyond

I’ll share mine so you get an idea

My Needs / Must Do

Relationships: mend the ones I fractured and broke, not because it’s the right thing but I genuinely feel guilty. continue to focus on bettering myself before seeking out new friends or a partner, avoid codependency.

Health: continue to hit the gym and start going for hikes more outside but more importantly try to eat better without hurting my wallet. Mentally continue to meditate and practice yoga with some tai chi.

Career: get a decent paying job with my college degree in CNC Machinist but make sure the insurance is good for my medications I have to take the rest of my life.

Living: find a Spot that I can have Stability for a min until I’m ready to move up, I have a case worker helping me, no support from Family unfortunately.

Personal Growth: continue to step outside my comfort zone so I can challenge myself to new experiences on a mental or spiritual level. hold myself accountable more than ever to anything no excuses and accept responsibility instead of isolating or self medicating.

Communication: my door is always open and I’m an open book but I don’t go out of my way to engage with others. I’m cautious of people and prefer to keep to myself but I have made an effort in a group setting, I’ll consider making an effort more in public.

I’m really loving your vision, it’s resonating a lot with me. I’ve made a promise to put myself first. After my mom passed, I tried moving, thinking it’d ease the grief. But grief doesn’t shift with buildings, does it? Now, I’m choosing a new move, one rooted in my well-being, safety, and finding people who make me feel less alone. I’m staying committed to therapy, and I’m about to wrap up my bachelor’s in social work, with my master’s next in line! Since I can’t work in the traditional sense, I’m crafting a new purpose: a nonprofit offering free counseling to transplant recipients. And about relationships whether it’s family, friends, or otherwise, f it feels like a job, I’m out. I’m only here for mutual effort. And those “wants”, If they align with my needs that’s when they become something I truly welcome.

I was just thinking about this this morning! I'm turning 30 soon, and as someone who wasn't supposed to survive their 20s it's a really weird feeling for me. I've been thinking of all the things I said I'd do when I was 30 and realizing that's actually happening and I need to get moving.

Some of my goals are finishing the book I've been writing about my transplant experience, continuing to grow my business, speaking and teaching at more conferences and workshops and hopefully growing my family.

Realizing I have wants, and can pursue those was life changing for me after having spent so many years in survival mode focusing only on my most basic of needs. It feels frivolous at times, to want things when I know so many people just want what I have (a transplant, to survive, an "ordinary" life) but also realizing that wanting, and having dreams and goals, is so vital in living a full life
