My social worker told me that "no, you can't be punished by Medicare". I did sign up for Medicare... It has been a struggle, I have to reject every bill and ask them to send it to both my primary insurance and Medicare. So far, I have paid for a year of Medicare and seen no benefit. It feels pretty frustrating to navigate. Also, there is no "go-to help desk" for these types of things.
