Introducing Myself!

in Intestine
Hi All,
My name is Daisy Friedman, and I'm a small bowel, liver, and pancreas recipient. I had Short Gut Syndrome as a result of gastroschisis and then went into TPN-induced liver failure. I received my transplant over 19 years ago in Omaha, Nebraska, and have been fortunate enough not to have needed another transplant since, and have had very minimal complications.
I live in New York City and make films mostly about chronic illness and disability in an attempt to raise awareness and build community about life after transplant and how to live a full life with long-term illness. So excited to meet everyone here and make some connections! :)

Hey Daisy! So glad you’re here. I had a liver transplant back in 2020.
I’d be so curious to hear more about your job! I filmed for a docuseries called Transplant Stories a few years back (here’s the link if anyone wants to look it up: https://www.knowledge.ca/program/transplant-stories) and it was the most incredible experience. It’s fascinating to see the behind the scenes of everything we see on the screen.
Wow, this is so cool! Thank you so so much for sharing this. I'll check it out. I do mostly fiction films that center around disability in some ways. I'm actually making my first film right now that specifically tackles transplant. Here is one of my films that you can find online! (https://www.shortoftheweek.com/2024/05/07/as-you-are/).
