Insight from this morning's hike

My dog and I hiked 7km today.
And there was this moment, right when we had gotten to the top of this tiny hill, when I remembered that 4 months ago I couldn't even walk down a hallway. 4 months ago my entire abdominal wall was replaced.
And I remember why I do this. It's for all of us. It's for that version of me who was in that hospital bed and was broken open into this entirely new world and was terrified.
