Getting Back to Pre-Covid Life...

Updated May 29, 2021 in General

Now that I have received my second dose of the Covid vaccine I am excited to get back to my pre-covid life. However, I have now become very comfortable with my pandemic life. I have new hobbies, a garden, I feel safer and content being alone. Thinking about getting back to a social life and being exposed to everything is giving me some anxiety. Anyone else?

Yes! I have the same issue. Where do I start when it comes to going back out? How much is too much? It has given me anxiety as well.

Also feel comfortable in my own space, and alot of people really don't understand the seriousness being immunosupprest. Think slowly is the best medicine in our condition for mental well being.

I was almost completely isolated pre transplant, and then got transplanted in the middle of Covid! I have no idea how to interact with the general public. After my second shot I’m going to try to slowly introduce socially distanced activities though. And I’ll probably always be the girl who carries masks and hand sanitizer in her pocket

Yes, I'm 3 years post and even before covid I have masks in bags, santised hands after people like to greet, worn masks in malls and people really did stare... Quite funny as now masks are the norm and everyone lives like a transplant patient, washing hands, not touching face, masks, πŸ˜‚

For me it was a slow process to get use to and feel more at ease. And then covid hit and that's another whole added stress. Little by little and one day at a time is my motto, to bad if people cant understand.

Oh, also remember, our systems also wont pick up great immunity with covid vaccine, but something is better than nothing. Outside socialising, masked, and wash and sanitise hands etc will be your safe place....they are mine and I havent had vaccine yet. Still waiting.

Avi I was kinda of lucky I had my transplant in February 2021 and left the hospital as COVID was hitting the US. So mask have been the norm from day 1 for me but I have to say I’m quite tired of wearing them and my hands stay raw from washing and sanitizing. But yes it’s my new norm.

I'm glad I am not the only one! I kind of like being a homebody now. Haha.

Pre-covid I always carried hand sanitizer with me too. I think slowly getting back to socially distanced activities will be good. Slow is the key word, haha. That way it is not too overwhelming.

Definitley a good motto you have about taking it little by little and one day at a time. Good point, people are living their lives like transplant patients, haha. I hope a lot of these safeguards in place stay that way.

I love masks because I feel like I don't need makeup, haha. But I am also getting tired of wearing them. Luckily I don't go too many places. Congratulations on your recent transplant.

From my perspective, this pandemic is not anything like say, 9-11, an 'incident'- I don't think we can even say pre/post in this case. We are living in the 'era of the pandemic". Everything & everyone has been impacted & affected (& we will continue to be so, for the foreseeable future).

Everyone, do the best you can, given the circumstances around us. Live your best life, stay positive, be smart and wear a smile while living the best life possible, to the fullest! It's a new world we're all living in now. Take care. - Sam.

I love this way of looking at it. It's not an incident, and even when it is "over" it will still have changed the entire structure of everything. When people say they want life to go back to normal, I pause. Because what is normal? And do we want to go back there? Is that even possible? I think instead of focusing on going back, we should spend more time and energy focusing on how to live well now
