How do you treat it? I have stuck
to Tylenol after my hip replacement surgery on Tuesday but it is getting really tough to avoid stronger drugs! I just know that opiates make me both nauseous and constipated - what do you do post surgery?

Opiates affect me the same way. After my transplant I took some Tylenol also for pain I had in my shoulder. Just had surgery for a broken wrist and stuck with Tylenol.
I had terrible pain in my ribs, NO opiates for me either. What helped me the most was a muscle relaxer “Robaxin” and I all so used a Lidocaine patch for relief. Tylenol does nothing for me! I wish we were able to take a anti inflammatory med. I have been on Turmeric Qunal b/c I have a lot of joint pain.
I hope u have a speedy recovery ๐ป๐ฆ๐บ

@Melsamm tylenol doesn’t do anything for me either. I was prescribed tramadol for my pain while I wait for abdominal surgery and that also doesn’t help a ton. I have a meeting with a pain specialist this week to see what else I can try, but I’ve been using natural/alternative methods of pain relief too. Usually I try to manage as long as I can with as few pain meds as possible but I hit a point where I cannot handle the pain any longer, and at that point I’d take anything as long as it worked.
Are u having abdominal surgery due to your transplant. I know it’s not good to get to where u r in so much pain that u will take anything, it’s so difficult. I hope the pain specialist helps u.
I am struggling w/insomnia since my LT and melatonin does nothing to help so I am trying to find natural way to deal w/that. Never had a problem sleeping until now. When I tell the doc they tell me it’s the meds but we don’t want to give u anything addictive to take. REALLY I am taking all these immunosuppressant meds. w/horrific side affects that might do horrible things to my body and u can’t give me something to help me sleep.
But I do get it we have to take them to live and I am grateful each and every day ๐๐ป
Speedy recovery with surgery.

I totally get you! On one hand we're on so much already, with so many side effects, its like the damage is already done, but I also get not wanting to add anything else on top of what we're already taking.
Yes! I had a really difficult transplantation road (2 back to back transplants, plus additional surgery to try and preserve the first transplant. so 3 major surgeries in 4 days, and then over a month in the ICU on a vent unable to actually use any of my muscles) which destroyed my abdominal wall. So I'm waiting for an entire abdominal wall reconstruction.
God bless you, I had my LT in 10/20 and my AWR 11/21. Nothing compared to your transplant journey. I pray all goes well u are in my thoughts/prayers.
please let me know how u do.
I'm so sorry. I don't use heavy pain medication either. I had a large cyst removed from my jaw bone last October and the pain medication wasn't touching the pain. I began using the Curable app and doing somatic tracking. The good thing is these tools don't have any side effects, but can help with pain and rewire the way you respond to pain sensations.
